North Borneo

This gallery contains photographs captured in North Borneo. Danum Valley still holds stands of primary rainforest, the lower situated areas between Lahad Datu and Sandakan, in the Malaysian state of Sabah mainly consist of secondary forests. Native wildlife has carved out a new home in Tabin, and along the Kinabatangan river. Off the north-eastern coast, small islands in the Sulu Sea form part of a marine park for the protection of tropical coral reefs and nesting grounds of turtles.
